The Comfort of Longing

Dear Heart, 

 As Thomas Hardy says, “I shall do one thing in this life - one thing certain - that is, love you, and long for you, and keep wanting you till I die,” 

It comforts me to believe that letting your life keep revolving around something you deeply want does not lessen you; it elevates you. 

I have come to believe that when you keep feeding your desires, they manifest into reality and make reality gentler to live with. As I want you, I wish to keep longing for you to calm my soul.

I shall continue my path, even if longing remains my only companion, along with solitude, my dear coffee and a slice of fudge. With so much beside me, I cannot bring myself to believe that desolation can take me.

 Dear Heart,  My silences have always stifled my emotions. I have always restrained what my heart has felt; my hesitant heart has made me loosen the grip over several of my desires. On this day, when I encounter numerous layers of thoughts where our souls drift toward separate tides, I recall how joyous I have felt with you and how strongly I have remained gripped to your soul all along.
